The IT Park in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is a dedicated hub designed to foster the growth of information technology and related industries. It provides essential infrastructure and amenities for IT companies, startups, and businesses, aiming to strengthen the city’s IT sector by generating employment, attracting investments, and facilitating the expansion of IT services, software development, business process outsourcing (BPO), and other technology-enabled services. This initiative plays a pivotal role in Bhubaneswar’s economic development.

IT Park in Bhubaneswar, situated in Odisha’s capital and encompassing five sub-centers in Berhampur, Deoghar, Patna, Ranchi, and Rourkela, has been instrumental in advancing the software and hardware industries across Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand for over three decades. It has positioned Bhubaneswar as a prominent IT hub among Tier-2 cities in India’s eastern region and significantly boosted software exports, thereby fostering employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

IT Park in Bhubaneswar, has played a crucial role in driving substantial growth within the IT industry, particularly benefiting startup SMEs. Central to this growth is the STP scheme, exclusively designed to promote and export computer software and related services using communication links or physical media. This scheme integrates elements from the government’s 100 percent Export Oriented Units (EOUs), Export Processing Zones (EPZs), and global Science Parks/Technology Parks concepts, focusing exclusively on the software sector.

IT Park in Bhubaneswar, has been at the forefront of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in eastern India’s IT and ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) sectors. Initiatives like the Electropreneur Park (EP) Bhubaneswar, launched in December 2019, provide a 7,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to incubating ESDM startups. Currently hosting eight startups, EP Bhubaneswar benefits from 23 mentors and conducts extensive training programs to support entrepreneurial ventures.

Additionally, VARCoE, a Center of Excellence on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality established at IIT Bhubaneswar with support from MeitY, the Government of Odisha, and STPI, drives innovation across sectors like healthcare, education, and entertainment. With advanced VR & AR labs, VARCoE incubates eight startups supported by 14 mentors and three partners.

The collaboration with the MIT Fab Lab Foundation USA led to establishing the FAB Lab in Bhubaneswar, operational since April 2019. This lab has been crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, producing essential PPE equipment and supporting startups. Moreover, IT Park in Bhubaneswar’s – expansion into new centers in Jeypore, Jajpur, Sambalpur, and Angul aims to provide robust infrastructure and foster tech-driven entrepreneurship across Odisha, contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth and innovation landscape.
